Carlmont High School
Genevieve Tep is the Director of Vocal Music at Carlmont High School in Belmont, California where she is also Performing Arts Director. She directs all of the Carlmont vocal ensembles. The Carlmont High School Choral Program has participated in numerous festivals throughout the country, regularly receiving top honors at festivals.Mrs. Tep’s goal is to develop lifelong choral musicians while providing leadership opportunities for students who may go on to careers in music. Many Carlmont Singers have gone on to become music majors in college, many of which are music education majors. Since Mrs. Tep’s tenure began at Carlmont in 2003, the Choral Program has grown from 3 classes and just over 50 students to 5 classes and three extracurricular choirs with an enrollment of over 220 students. Each spring, the Choral Program takes an educational performance tour including trips to Anaheim, Los Angeles, Long Beach, San Diego & New York.
In 2006 Mrs. Tep was Sequoia Union High School District Teacher of the Year and was the California League of High Schools Area 4 Educator of the Year Nominee. She has been involved in the ACDA California Coastal Region Honor Choir as chair and co-chair for the last five years and is currently serving on the California Chapter of the American Choral Director’s Association as the Repertoire and Standards Chair for Show Choirs.
She graduated summa cum laude with her BA in Vocal Performance and Music Education from California State University, Hayward in 2002 and received her Teaching Credential in Music in 2003.
